Forecasters downgraded hurricane season predictions - they were WRONG!!

Hurricane Michael was the 3rd worst hurricane in history to hit the mainland of Florida.  

2018 Atlantic Hurricane season names

These are the names of tropical storms or hurricanes that may form in the Atlantic Ocean in 2018. Names are alphabetical, and alternate between male and female.


Alberto - 5/29/18 - Alberto has been downgraded to a "depression" and has caused heavy rainfall in the south.

Beryl - 7/7/18 - Beryl weakened to tropical storm status.

Chris - 7/11/18 - Chris was off the coast of North Carolina but moved to the northeast.

Debby - 8/7/18 - Debby formed in the Atlantic but was no threat to land.

Ernesto - 8/17/18 - Ernesto formed in the Atlantic but headed towards Ireland.

Florence - 9/20/18 - Florence was an intensive, devastating hurricane which attacked the Carolinas.

Death  toll currently reaching 43. 

Gordon - 9/6/18 - Tropical storm weakened to a depression.

Helene - 9/10/18 - Helene is following Florence, churning in the Atlantic.

Isaac - 9/10/18 - Isaac is behind Helene, in the Atlantic.

Joyce - 9/12/18 - Sub-tropical storm stays in Atlantic.

Kirk -  9/24/18 - Tropical Depression Kirk to move west across the Atlantic Ocean, but does not currently pose any threat to land.

Leslie  - 10/1/18 - Leslie to become a tropical storm by Tuesday, 10/2/18

Michael - 10/11/18 - Michael turned into a Category 4 hurricane with winds of up to 155 mph came inland in the Florida Panhandle. 43+ have died so far. Parts of the Panhandle were torn to shreds.  Mexico Beach, FL was decimated.
