2020 HURRICANE SEASON

An above-normal 2020 Atlantic hurricane season is expected, according to forecasters with NOAA's Climate Prediction Center, a division of the National Weather Service. ... An average hurricane season produces 12 named storms, of which 6 become hurricanes, including 3 major hurricanes.

The following list of names will be used for named storms that form in the North Atlantic in 2020. The names not retired from this list will be used again in the 2026 season.

Arthur - May 16th  turned into a Tropical Storm.

Bertha - May 27th  turned into a Tropical Storm

Cristobal - June 1st turned into a Tropical Storm

Dolly - June 23rd ended as a Tropical Depression and was no threat to land in Atlantic.

Edouard - July 5th formed in the Atlantic and became a Tropical Storm

Fay - Fay was the first tropical cyclone to make landfall in the U.S state of New Jersey since Irene in 2011.  Fay was the earliest sixth named storm on record in the basin when it formed on July 9.

Gonzalo - July 25, Tropical Storm Gonzalo was expected to bring tropical storm conditions to the Southern

Hanna - July 26, Hanna producing heavy rain and dangerous flash flooding over far southeast Texas and northeast Mexico.

Isaias - July 30, Isaias is a Tropical Storm currently across Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic and Haiti.  August 3rd, Isaias expected to be near hurricane strength when it reaches the Carolinas.  .

Josephine -  August 14th Tropical Storm Josephine passed northeast of the northern Leeward Islands.

Kyle - August 16th Kyle became post-tropical and moved out to sea, away from land.

Laura - August 23rd Tropical Storm Laura will spread flooding rainfall from Hispaniola to Cuba through Monday

Marco - August 23, Tropical  Storm Marco has strengthened into a hurricane and will strike on the northern Gulf Coast on Monday where it will bring storm surge, heavy rainfall and strong winds to parts of Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama.

Nana - September 1, Category 1 Hurricane

Omar - August 31, Tropical Storm

Paulette - September 7, Category 2 Hurricane

Rene -  September 7, Tropical Storm

Sally - September 7, Category 2 Hurricane

Teddy - September 14, Hurricane

Vicky -  September 14, Tropical Storm

Wilfred - September 18, Tropical Storm

Alpha -September 18, Subtropical Storm

Beta - September 18, 

Gamma -October 2, Tropical Storm

Delta -October 5, Hurricane
